Drugs for Quitting Smoking Probably Caused Birth Defects
Zyban was often prescribed to women trying to give up smoking because they found they were pregnant. Zyban is one of GlaxoSmithKline’s name brands for bupropion, which is also marketed as the antidepressant Wellbutrin. Zyban was approved by the FDA for the lessening of withdrawal symptoms and cravings associated with quitting smoking. When taken during the first trimester, children were more likely to be born with birth defects. There have already been numerous Wellbutrin lawsuits because of this. Women who took Zyban to quite smoking while pregnant to quit smoking were exposed to the same risks and may also be entitled to compensation. Click here for more information.
